Citiwalks: Paris' 7th arrondissement
HOME >> PARIS >> 7TH ARRONDISSEMENT
If you are staying in the 7th arrondissement, then you are very fortunate to be close by some of the best known and best value bistros and restaurants in Paris, not to mention some of the finest purveyors of food.
At the very end of rue Saint-Dominique you will find [A] Cacao and Macarons, a tiny shop [#120] where you can buy some of the best chocolates and macaroons in Paris. Enjoy this back at your apartment with some excellent quality single origin arabica coffee beans, which can be purchased across the road at Comptoir Richard [#145].
At #135, you will find the gourmet restaurant [B] Le Violon d'Ingres, popular for lunch, but you will need to book in advance. If you are just after a snack, then try Café Constant next door [#139].
[C] La Fontaine de Mars [129 rue saint-Dominique] is a traditional bistro with a reputation for quality food and service going back many years. The plat du jour is always a good selection. If you prefer some regional cooking, try L'Auvergne Gourmande next door at #127. This bistro specializes in food from the Auvergne region but is only open for lunch.
Further along Saint-Dominique is [D] Patisserie Millet [#103], famous for its delicious apple tarts, eclairs, chocolate croissants and cream slices. Across the road from Patisserie Millet and left up rue Jean Nicot, you will smell the aromas coming from [E] Jean-Luc Poujauran Boulangerie [20, rue Jean Nicot] where you will find the best baguettes and breads in Paris. Right next door is Bellota-Bellota [#18], well known to locals and specializing in fine food products from Spain including exceptional hams and a great tapas-style bar.
In rue Amelie, you will find two often hard-to-locate [F] Laundromats. Around the corner in rue de Grenelle is a small shop ([G] Grenalla) with unusual dolls and other gifts for young children. Another 20 metres or so further at 161 rue de Grenelle is [H] Macabee, another smallish shop with lots of interesting gift ideas.
[I] Rue Cler is one of Paris's famous food streets. Butcheries, charcuteries, fromageries, fruit and vegetable shops, boulangeries - all of the very highest quality.

Enjoy!
