[A] Cenacolo di Sant'Apollonia [via 27 Aprile, 1] a free museum with magnificent fresco of Andrea del Castagno's Last Supper.
[B] Museo di San Marco [Piazza San Marco 3] This museum is famous for its paintings by the 15th century Dominican monk, Fra Angelico.
[C] Galleria dell'Accademia [Via Ricasoli, 58-60], exhibiting works by Michelangelo, Botticelli, Giovanni di Ser Giovanni (Lo Scheggia), and Jacopo Pontormo.
[D] Spedale degli Innocenti or "Hospital of he Innocents". [Piazza della Santissima Annunziata 12]. Formerly a home for orphans and abandoned children, it now contains a small museum with works by artists including Luca della Robbia, Sandro Botticelli, Piero di Cosimo, and Domenico Ghirlandai.
[E] Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze [Via della Colonna, 36] The Archaeological Museum contains one of the most important collections of Etruscan art in the world. It is housed in the Palazzo della Crocetta, which was built for the grand duchess Maria Madalena of Austria in 1620, probably by Giulio Parigi.
[F] Cappelle Medicee (Medici Chapels) [Piazza Madonna degli Aldobrandini, 6], a vast complex of chapels of great historical and architectural interest.
[G] Museo dell'Opera del Duomo [Piazza Duomo]. The Museum of the Cathedral displays many important works including Michelangelo's "Pietà", Donatello's "Mary Magdalen", and "Cantoria" by Luca della Robbia.
[H] Dante's House [via Santa Margherita, 1] where there is a small museum illustrating the poet's life and work.
[I] Orsanmichele Church and Museum [Via Arte della Lana, reached by the bridge from the adjacent Palazzo dell’Arte della Lana]. Note that this museum may be undergoing reconstruction.
[J] Museo del Bargello [Via del Proconsolo, 4] This imposing 13th century building contains many sculptures from the Renaissance period, including those of Donatello, Luca della Robbia, Verrocchio, Michelangelo, and Cellini.
[K] The Uffizi Gallery [Piazzale degli Uffizi], the best known gallery in Italy.
[L] Institute and Museum of the History of Science [Piazza dei Giudici, 1]. This charming museum holds collections of scientific instruments by the Medici and Lorraine families, and includes a display of the preserved middle finger of Galileo's right hand!
[M] The Pitti Palace, Palatine Gallery and Royal Apartments [Pitti Palace - Piazza de' Pitti, 1]. Apart from a number of important art collections, the Pitti Palace has a magnificent garden that is famous for its fountains and grottos.
[N] Gallery of Modern Art [On the top floor of Palazzo Pitti, Piazza de' Pitti, 1] holds over two thousand works providing an almost complete panorama of Tuscan painting from the 18th to 20th century.
[O] La Specola. Museum of Zoology and Natural History, [Via Romana, 17]. The museum houses collections of natural treasures like fossils, animals, minerals and exotic plants.
